My Strawberry-Banana and Mango Fruit Layered Smoothie (Non-Dairy)

While spring has sprung, the days have been a bit a gloomy lately out here in southern Cali. However, this weekend has been quite the opposite! Excited to have been blessed with lovely weather, I decided to bring out the blender and prepare a couple fresh easy smoothies for a #smoothiesaturday.

Originally, I was only going to blend some strawberries and bananas together to make a strawberry-banana smoothie, but I felt like changing things up a bit to make a layered smoothie since I had never made one before. Plus, I felt inspired from seeing all delicious looking smoothies on pinterest and instagram that I wanted to have a little fun myself. By adding a mango I had in stock, I figured that it would enhance the flavor and brighten it all up to look like what my friend @tinyteathings described as "SUNRISE IN A CUP"! Check out my simple recipe below to make this delicious and thirst quenching smoothie!

MY STRAWBERRY-BANANA & MANGO LAYERED
FRUIT SMOOTHIE RECIPE

Serves: 2 People
Prep Time: 10-15 mins

Kitchen Tools:
  • Blender
  • Knife
  • Strainer
  • 1 Cup Measuring Cup
  • 1 Tablespoon
Ingredients:
  • 1 Cup of freshly washed Organic Strawberries sliced
  • 1 Whole Banana sliced
  • 1 Mango (peeled, pitted and sliced)
  • 2 Tbs. of Lime Juice
  • 5 Medium Ice Cubes for each layer

For the 1st Layer:

In your blender, mix in the 5 Medium Ice Cubes, sliced Mango and 1 Tbs. of Lime Juice. Blend until smooth and then divide into 2 individual glasses and set aside.

For the 2nd Layer:

Rinse and clean your blender. Mix in 5 Medium Ice Cubes, 1 Cup of freshly washed sliced Organic Strawberries, 1 Whole Banana sliced and 1 Tbs. of Lime Juice. Blend until smooth and then gently pour in the mix.

The variations are endless when it comes to making smoothies. As for the layers, I really thought it was going to be a bit of a challenge prior to making this, but it's all in the pour! Just be gentle and make sure the consistency is not too oversaturated with liquid. Now that I've enjoyed whipping up this yummy smoothie, I'm now looking forward to making more as summer approaches!

Hope you enjoyed this simple recipe! Let me know what other fruits would be great to mix together into a smoothie! Cheers!
